Farewell Wekiwa District...
As 2009 draws to a close, so does Wekiwa District, Rolling Hills District, and Seminole Trails District. This will be a year many of us will never forget, but tough times always serve to make us stronger. That’s what I see happening here in Scouting, we will now have two stronger districts where before there were three. There will be many changes, new Roundtable locations, new leaders, new executives. But after everything settles in to the new year, we will have two great districts, with wonderful committees and commissioner staffs. That leads me to add…
Hello Apopka Shores and Seminole Springs...
Effective January 1st, 2010, we will all be members of one of these two districts. Where will you be? The answer is easy, if your charter organization is in Orange County, you will be in Apopka Shores District. If your charter organization is in Seminole County, you will be in Seminole Springs District. Be on the lookout for information on new district websites and Yahoo groups after the first of the year.
Roundtable...
Don’t forget that Roundtable will be held on Thursday December 17th at 7:00 pm. There will no longer be a Wekiwa Roundtable. This month, we will all be meeting as the new districts, and both districts will be having a holiday party. Everyone is invited to come and meet the members of their new district.
Apopka Shores Roundtable will be at Winter Garden United Methodist Church located at 125 North Lakeview Ave. in downtown Winter Garden. Bring a covered dish to share, you can also bring a $10-15 gift wrapped for a fun gift exchange (optional), or an unwrapped gift for a child to be given to a local charity (also optional). Directions: 429 toward Tampa, take the Plant Street exit; turn right and continue through town; across from the gazebo in the town center on the right is Boyd Street (bike shop on the corner) go down the street and the church parking lot is on the left. We will be meeting in the Fellowship Hall.
Seminole Springs Roundtable will be at the Lake Mary LDS Church located at 2505 Lake Emma Rd. in Lake Mary. Take I-4 to the Lake Mary Blvd. exit. Turn right onto Lake Mary and turn right again onto Lake Emma Road. The church is 1.3 miles ahead on the left.
Popcorn…
Thank you to everyone who has paid for their popcorn. If you have not yet settled your account, please do so at the earliest opportunity. Commission is continuing to drop, so settle now to keep as much of the money you have earned as possible.
Recharters…
Our District goal is to have 100% of the re-charters completed and turned in no later than Friday December 18th! Thank you to all units who have submitted them at the November Roundtable!! Remember that by completing your recharter in a timely manner you are ensuring that your Scouts will be registered members. If you are not sure of how to complete your unit’s re-charter please ask for help by contacting your unit commissioner or our District Commissioner.
